This S.T.E.M lesson encourages students to use the Engineering Design Process to solve a problem. The lesson opens up with a virtual book about the class mascot, and then continues by leading the students through the Engineering Design Process. The students were able to make use of limited materials and interactive models to solve the problem.

This lesson encourages kindergarten students to find new information from the images in nonfiction texts. The practice of this method resulted in the discovery of new information about science topics, such as facts about coral reefs. The students were also given the opportunity to interact with pieces of coral in order to heighten their understanding.

This memorable lesson teaches the "Golden Rule" to students. The class participates in a demonstration where they use unkind language when talking to an apple, only to find that it is "rotten and hurt" on the inside. The powerful contrast between this apple and the fresh apple that will be talked to kindly intends to leave a lasting impression on the students.
